after upgrade I.E. 6, can't access secured web pages

Mar 6, 2005 5:28AM PST

Operating on Win98, recently upgraded to I.E.6 and therafter could not access my accounts to do some stock trading. Went to set all security to default in Internet options. At the bottom line on the website, next to IE logo appears Page Error. The 2 sites I want to access, will not allow me to go to the next screen to sign in. Is there some protocols scrambled or what might have happened in upgrade to deny access to some secured websites. Is there a fix to this on my end, the ISPer, or website host? Thanks, Ekim.

There maybe a whole bunch of reasons for this sort of thing.

So just a couple of quick test.

Can you go to the winup site and run the scan?
If so that says activex kind of works.

Can you go here.
http://thinks.com/games/

Scroll down to java games.
Click on checkers.
If the game loads and plays that says java kind of works.

Out the Window

All of a sudden, when I wanted to respond to your message, I could only get into safe mode as a drop down kept saying I had a conflict with my display adapter not compatible in addition to not getting booted completly. When I got things fixed somewhat, I went and defaulted things like dual monitor(using a Matrox Graphic Card), resolution lowered, defaulted all optins in Internet settings, lowered all securities to lowest options and still couldn't get back where the machine was before operating normal.I placed the cpu on an open window ledge aiming for the compost bin below the window, when my wife said lets go into dos. We got to a screen where we opted to reload the startups (can't remember exactly) low and behold, internet was connectable as well as the access to secured sites. I wish I could remember what we did, but thanks for the help and sorry, I couldn't get the machine up or as you know access Internet in safe mode. It was really weird, did virus scan, scan disk & defreag too, thinking something got corrupted, Ekimsok.
