Don't "Delete" Programs.. Uninstall Them..
Mar 6, 2009 7:16AM PST

A little clearer message from you would sure help things..

You stated: "when i try to delete McAfee to dl avg i cant delete it in run after i click on start"

Do you mean you're trying to "uninstall" McAfee Antivirus so you can then install AVG antivirus? If so, then access the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs and uninstall all things McAfee from there. Once that's done, then download and run the "mcpr.exe" tool from the link below which will remove any remnants of McAfee. Afterward, you should be able to install AVG antivirus.

And remember, in order to install programs, you must do so from an account with admin rights..

http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

As to your other question above about the "goofle desktop wont startup succesfuly", after you ran the System Recovery DVD, did you do a full destructive recovery which involves a format and reinstall of everything? If so, then have you also reinstalled all the Windows Updates plus Service Pack 3? Which version of Internet Explorer do you have installed? IE 6? IE7? Or are you using a different browser such as Firefox?

Have you tried uninstalling the "google desktop", then reinstalling it?

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Mar 8, 2009 3:48AM PDT

Hey buddy that really helped...had no idea i was supposed to do that,nice...guess its ok to delete that mcrp right...there is 1 thing though, when i was dl"ing avg 8.5 it said that there was a bug somewhere and it would effect it,it is Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator,i looked for this everywhere and i cant find the name of it to upgrade it,when it popped up saying it what it did it showed a link to the sight but which 1 do you upgrade is the thing...if i knew the name of it i could upgrade it then uninstall avg 8.5 then re-install it...until then i have to keep it like it is

Yep, It's OK To Delete Mcpr.exe After Using It

It's not clear by your statements which program has requested to be updated, especially since you didn't tell us which version of Roxio you have installed.. Still, both Roxio and AVG may have updates and using those updates would be a good idea.

Hope this helps.

It dont say no where...

Is the strange thing.it mustve came with my ie7 or windows xp or came with 1 of the 60 something updates windows xp did after i used that system recovery dvd for factory settings,i have no idea what "kind" of roxio it is,all it showed me was "Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator" it had a link to upgrade it,but all those cost money and since i dont know the proper name of it i cant uninstall it,you think its dvd solution in that part where you uninstall programs,im lost lol...

Sure It Does...

You just need to know where to look. Roxio did not come with IE7 or any Windows Updates BUT...it may be appearing because you reinstalled everything back to its factory state.

As to Roxio's version number, open Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator from the Start Menu or by using Windows Explorer and navigating to the Program Files folder, then open the Roxio folder and double click on the .exe file which starts the program.. Once it's open, click on "Help" in the upper part of the windows, choose "About Roxio" or "About this software". It will tell you which version is currently isntalled. You can then visit the Roxio site and install any updates for your version which are needed..

Then again, Roxio can occasionally refer to an "update" as a complete different version Up-Grade which would require a new purchase of the software. Only you can decide.

Also, "Easy CD & DVD Creator" SHOULD BE listed in the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs is you choose to uninstall it.

As before, you need to tell us more after you've done the research on your computer.

Hope this helps.
