Actually got 3 updates this morning
Apr 8, 2014 8:58PM PDT

I've an XP computer at home I'm configuring for a school. It was fully updated as of yesterday and I even got the message about discontinuing support. This AM, I got the update notice for 3 important downloads. One was for malicious software removal and the other a cumulative update for IE. I'd already visited the MS update site several times yesterday and nothing came across. Maybe "important" updates and "critical" updates are being treated differently?

Could also be

Could also be that some of the updates are being done in a staggered release. Especially since in addition to the final updates to XP and Office 2003 there was the big update for Windows 8.1 coming out on the same day. So in an effort to try and keep the Windows Update servers responsive, they just made certain updates only available in certain regions based on load.
