after market cooler on Dell Inspiron 570 Desktop

Oct 3, 2011 10:43AM PDT

My cheap Dell Inspiron came with an AMD Sempron, and a walmart toy heat sink/fan. So, I went out and bought an AMD Quad Core Black Edition 955 Phenom.

The only cooler I can use is the dell one.

The dell isn't sold with the standard mounting/retaining brackets that are needed for AMD heat sinks. It has an Intel style cooler. I am talking about the little plastic clips that are around the CPU.

Where can I buy those?

Dell won't offer support for after market hardware.

Anybody out there with a similar problem or at least any knowledge on this topic, I would appreciate your steering me in the right direction.

Thanks,

DELL HEAT SINK

I am thinking of getting a Dell. Was it hard to replace the CPU??? Did you have to change any settings and did you change out the heat sink??
