After installing printer drivers, shutdown time drag

Feb 7, 2011 9:08AM PST

Hi, before I start I'd like to thank all of you and say that I'm running a windows 7 64bit system.

Before I installed the drivers for my printer, an HP laser jet CP1025nw, my laptop's shutdown time skyrocketed from being 10 seconds usually, to over 30 seconds!

Is this a known issue? Is there a way to track down exactly which process is dragging out the shutdown so I can uninstall/stop/speed it up? I've tried uninstalling it, and it still stays at 30 seconds, but either way I still need this installed so I can print from this computer. (I really have no other choice)

The first time I installed it from the disc, but the second time I got the more up-to date driver from the HP website, still no change Sad

I really appreciate this guy, you're life savers.

That's sadly normal.

If we enable sharing of printer or files, the "server" sends a message out to others it's going down which extends shutdown times.

So am I stuck with this or is it possible to stop this?
I guess I'll just have to deal with it since I'll always have to print from this laptop Sad

Maybe the print server needs to be somewhere else?

This is one of the reasons my new printer is on WiFi. Now I don't have to be a print server.
