Affordable MP3 Player with good file navigation.

Please help me find an affordable MP3 Player with good file navigation (playlists? album lists? artist lists?)

I am a teacher who would like to carry the listening exercises that come with textbooks, some songs to use in class and my own music on my MP3 Player. I now have a
Clipper STU015 (MP3 Player, 512MB, Voice Recorder, FM Tuner,USB Disk on Key, MP3/WMA/WMV Player, Voice Recorder, FM Tuner).

These are all nice features but the song navigation is terrible. If there are 100 songs and I want to get to song 99 I'll have to press advance 98 times.

I know the IPods are expensive. I also worry about carrying electronics at school and IPods are very desirable. But what MP3 player would you recommend that has better song navigation. I like the cool features I listed above but I would compromise (a bit grudgingly) to get better file navigation.
Playlists, and AlbumLists would help me a lot. Maybe a bigger display panel would help too.

Thanks,
Tom
