affiliate code

Jan 4, 2008 12:55PM PST

Affiliate button, I have Googled it and everything I can't seem to find the code to make one. I mean I have one made I just need the code to do the linking to point a to point b. I've already got it uploaded to photobucket, hope I explained it right.

Thanks
If this post is in the wrong place I am sorry!

I just want to link my blog to a friends blog/website, but I want to do it with one of those flashy buttons. I seen a code like this ( below,it's not a real site in the code) hope I explained it right. I was told they were affiliate buttons and I was told I'd need a code or a script or something.

<a href="http://lalalalablah.com" target="_blank"><img alt="flashy thingy" src="http://0000.pictureplace.com/albums="0"></a>

I'd start with ...

doing it with a simple link to see if you can get that working.

What, by the way, is a "flashy button"? A button inside a Flash program, or just a normal button in an html-forum?

Blogs, generally, are put together by some content management system, not by writing pure html-code yourself. Did you already check the user instructions for your blog-site (you don't tell which one it is) about how to create buttons, be they flashy or normal?

Yes

Oonce you have your website, you can buy a domain and rent hosting space with someone. Make sure that the host of your choice has some good reviews, and has the necessary extensions. For example, if you designed a website with Frontpage, it would be nice if the host has the Frontpage extensions. If you website has PHP, make sure the host has PHP, etc. There are two types of servers you can host with... Linux and Windows based. It entirely depends on your code, but if it's just HTML, I'd recommend Linux. If you need more help, let me know.

ok, I think I found a decent host, if I decide that I wanna change host will I be able to move my whole site over? ( does that make any sense?) oh, I'm looking for a pretty ok place to make my website, I saw free webs..are there any other good ones?

I do not recommend

I do not recommend any free host no matter how small the website. With a paid host you at least (or should, check with your host) get 24/7 support, 99% uptime, regular backups, a cpanel, etc.

You will very likely get FTP access which allows you to see all the files on your website. You can either download all the files just before you change host, or if you're using a system, export all your data, re-install the system on the new host, and import all your data. Databases must be exported seperately unless your host has something like cpanel where you can backup everything with one click right to your hard drive.

Yes, and then you just need to either design a website from scratch or install a CMS. Personally, I don't like bravenet very much... once you buy a real hosting, you have unlimited options of getting the same features free WITHOUT displaying excessive advertising.
