AdWare / Spyware Nightmare

My Norton Antivirus is not recognizing this annoying "notifier.exe" that pops up and starts recruiting me for popcorn.com or something like that. How can I get rid of this crap. Currently, I have to go to task manager, find notifier.exe, and end task.

Well, there can be a few things this relates to. Some say free antivirus, Yahoo, blog "something" or another. Either way, you can rename the file, delete it <although some say it comes back. There is a free anti-spyware that's suppose to terminate it fairly well...

You can give it a try, it's free home version. Oh as far as getting rid of the "crap" on your computer, start with Norton. I have "in the last 3 months" been asked to remove 14 norton installs off computers and install Avast or AVG, it's not keeping anything off it seems and their infected pcs are proof. Just an opinion though. As well, the once brittle and spyware tagged SpywareTerminator now has HIPS and is spyware free itself and is actually selling pro versions, I have used it for months now, excellent spyware prevention, has even gotten rid of Trojans.

Go to start > Search > in Search for files and folder type "notifier.exe" w/o the quotes > click on Search.
It should find a file something like "fsupport".
Delete this file and the notifier should be gone.

Also, you might want to download, update and run ewido AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 No need to buy. After the trial period just manually download the updates and run occaionally.

Hope this helps.
