Advise me to what TV I Should get please...

Mar 12, 2005 2:23PM PST

My price range can go up to a little over 3000. I'm looking to use the TV for cable (hdtv), movies (dvd), and maybe videogames. I also need a tv that works well in rooms with a lot of sun light. With the tv I have now I don't even watch it during the day because it's so hard to see.

I've been looking at various dlp, plasmas, LCD flat and projection, and LCOS. All seem to have their advantages and disadvantages, I was hoping some of you could help me with my decision.

I'd say check out an DLP or LCOS tv. LCD rear proj. are alright, but the bigger size you go, usually the screen door effect become apparent (you'll start to see the pixels). These three technologies don't burn in, so playing games on them shouldn't be a problem. NO EDTVs!! Widescreen only!!

about the LCOS and DLP.

For the LCOS and DLP, how do their picture quality compare to plasmas. Also, how much will the picture quality be effected by the sun light on either the LCOS or DLP.

What to buy

Your brightest picture will be plasma and you will have a much better viewing angle. With a DLP or LCD, you will be replacing the projector bulb every 2000-4000 hours at a cost of 300-350 dollars. Plasma screens last about 60,000 hours to what they call half-brightness. I have a plasma HDTV and an RP TV. I can watch the plasma in any light, but can only enjoy the RP at night. For 3000 dollars or less, you can get a nice 42 inch HD plasma, but expect to spend at least 4-5 grand for a 50 inch.
