a hard drive, but you have to add that as an accessory.
I held off buying the XL2 because I thought that it would soon be obsolete. Now, I'm not so sure. The HDV coming out of Sony will require a serious computer investment to work with, but you do get the HDV recording capability.
One the other hand, very few HD TV sets accomodate the 1080 specification. Most of them are 760 with a wide screen. The XL2 can accomodate these without the major investment that HDV requires. It looks like it will be quite a while before 1080 become commonplace.
Obvously there few options,i dont want the panosonic, so the two i am looking at are XL2 and the sony HDR-FX1 which does high definition. Considered: XL2 better film 24p, better lenses, and XLR ports, but viewfinder sucks and no HD which is the new Tech that is going to be standard: Sony does HD and fake Cinema 24p but does not do a good job, viewfinder and LCD great for reference not much expandable, atleast $2,000 cheaper. So will the XL2 be out of date within a few years, because the new XL-H1 has just released but at $9,000 plus or is the sony s good temporary solution!
