Question

Advice re: buying high speed burst camera

Jul 9, 2015 9:03AM PDT

I was hoping someone could give me some advice on buying a camera. I want a high speed burst similar to the burst on my iPhone, around 10 or more fps and unlimited frames; light weight, zoom nice but not really important, wifi if possible but not necessary, neck strap attachments if possible, hd video, and $250 or
less. I want it for hiking aalnd taking acton photos of our dogs, indoors and out. Thanks for your help!!!

While I've seen 10 or more fps, why not 30 to 60 FPS and call it what I call it?

I use the camcorder feature on my camera. At 1080p I see 30FPS a lot. For web sites, 1080p is more than enough.

Answer
Use feature search

Go to
http://www.dpreview.com/

On the Horizontal ribbon, hover the mouse cursor over "Cameras" and
select "Camera feature search".
Click on "All fixed lens cameras".
Then click on "Photography features"
Scroll to the bottom and adjust "continuous frame rate" to 11
You will see 45 cameras listed. Most are over $250. Many are older cameras.
Have Fun.

That was helpful but I guess my question really is . . .
Jul 10, 2015 3:54AM PDT

. . . ARE there ANY cameras that will take practically limitless high speed burst photos like an iPhone? Every time I think I have found one that will, after a LOT of research I discover that it shoots 9 fps, but is limited to 3 frames before the camera has to stop and process them, or it shoots 10 fps but is limited to 10 frames before the camera has to stop and process them. If there is no camera that will do this or if they are really expensive, then I will give up my search and just stick to using my iphone for those action shots, and switching to my regular old point and shoot camera for the other shots, as I have been doing. Thanks!

What you want is a camcorder, not a still camera.

Try the camcorder forum.
