I'd just get a single card off this list.

And because of the following statement...
"Our tests demonstrate fairly little difference between a $225 LGA 1155 Core i5-2500K and a $1000 LGA 2011 Core i7-3960X, even when three-way graphics card configurations are involved. It turns out that memory bandwidth and PCIe throughput don't hold back the performance of existing Sandy Bridge-based machines. "

I'd consider keeping what you have and going up the list in the first link as far as you can go. You have a good machine and bumping up the video would be all I would suggest.

Hey all, Im pretty mediocre when it comes to computer knowledge so Im looking for some advice. (tl;dr at bottom)
I am currently playing my computer games on an ASUS notebook with the following specs:
Intel i7-740QM 1.73 ghz
Nvidia geforce GTX 460m
16mb RAM
Although not the greatest I feel like I shouldnt have any trouble with frame rate with programs like League of Legends or WoW. Diablo 3 or planetside 2 is more reasonable, but I'm getting FPS drops to ~7 in LoL and warcraft in unplayable.
While I will get this machine looked at later I've decided either way I want to get a desktop. I know I could
get a much better computer at a much better price by building my own, but I dont have the time or knowledge for that so pre built it is. The rig im looking at buying has the following specs:
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz Unlocked Quad-Core
16GB DDR3 Ballistix SDRAM
2 x NVIDIA GeForce GTX550 Ti 1GB Cards in SLI Configuration
Im hoping to see a major improvement, but dont want to waste money on another subpar computer. I am not overly concerned with playing everything on max settings, but I would like to run 2 monitors (one for games and the other for my desktop, browser, etc.). Would this computer be able to handle the load of some recent popular games? Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for help.
TL;DR: Can this computer:
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz Unlocked Quad-Core
16GB DDR3 Ballistix SDRAM
2 x NVIDIA GeForce GTX550 Ti 1GB Cards in SLI Configuration
Run 2 monitors and play popular recent titles (BF3, Diablo 3, Planetside 2, etc.)
