You can't edit what's on DVD-R. That's not a rewritable media so that's correct. You could look at Ulead.com and try their software which lets you use what's on said media but again you can't edit that media content directly. It will have to go somewhere else.

I like the apparent ease of being able to record onto a mini-DVD and then just drop it into either my computer to edit the foottage or into my player for viewing.
However, then note on this site says that the DVD-R's cannot be editted. Does that mean the file cannot be editted or I can't manipulate what's on the disk. I assume it's a comment on the ability of software packages ability to edit the MPEG2 format.
I really would like to get away from tapes. Both of the Sony 8mm cameras have had died and I really hate the clutter of the tapes.
Any advice on Mini-DVD's and/or recommendations would be appreciated.
