I Have Everio GZ-MG40 and this model is fine for me. It came with good movie edit programs - so as Windows Movie Maker will not import it's files, you can do everything with that bundle movie edit program.
Recomend spare battery as it only last about 1 hour.
I would like a simple camcorder with which I can film a number of short clips of my family at various times and on vacation.
My goal is to then transfer the video clips into Windows Media files and edit them into little home movies using Windows Movie Maker 2 (and adding music).
A HD camcorder appeals to me because it is small, no need to change discs, etc., and I don't need to view clips other than by transferring to my computer.
That said, I am somewhat concerned about quality and don't want to find out that I can't just tranfer the JVC video into Windows Media. I did read somewhere you have to rename clips?
Also, this seems like a new technology. Should I wait 6-12 mos and buy then, when it is better and cheaper?
Thanks in advance
