I am interested in buying a camcorder for home movies (my wife and I have a ten week old baby) and teaching (I am a middle school history teacher). I have a budget of up to $800. On the one hand, I may not appreciate or use even feature, but I also know I am not the kind of person who would turn around and buy another camcorder in a few years. It would be primarily used for making home movies that I could edit on a mac and also possibly at school to record projects. I am a big film buff so I am interested in playing around to make short videos to satisfy my own creativity. There are lots of options, including high definition which looks like it is at the top of my range. Any advice on a camcorder that I could use for the near to mid term future? Thanks so much, any advice is greatly appreciated.
