advice needed on broken LCD

I have a brand new PowerShot SD450. My son dropped the camera and the LCD is fried. Can I get this fixed or should I just chuck it and buy a new camera?

You should call Canon and get a price quote for repairs. Then you can decide if it is worth the price.
Typical price for that is from $100 to $200.
