You need to provide a price range for the camera before we can recommend a particular camera.
Most digital cameras can do what you want.
For tabletop photography, it is good to have a camera with some manual controls.
As this gives you the ability to control depth of field.

I am need of a new digital camera for taking shots of artwork, big pieces to tiny pieces --so it must be able to take great close ups, but also with the option to be used as an everyday fool around family camera...Size not an issue...battery life is...any advice greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
