Advice for non-profit office computer upgrades

Apr 16, 2014 4:20AM PDT

Our small non-profit organization is looking to upgrade three of our office computers. They are primarily used for: email; writing documents; managing our website; and using the odd design program like Photoshop. We require just the desktop towers (will reuse screen, keyboard and mouse) and we plan to install Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop/Premiere Elements and Emsisoft anti-malware. My question is what is the difference between the Acer AXC-603 and the Acer Aspire ATC-605, and which one will better suit our needs? Also, would an i3 Core processor suit our needs or should we consider the i5?

Thanks,

Clarification Request
Ok, the UR13, UB11 or UR15?

You supplied the series but not any exact model.

The prices look as much as we pay for laptops. But hey, your call on that.

Models are different
Apr 16, 2014 4:40AM PDT

Best Buy and Staples (Canada) have model numbers that include EB 16 and ES 18, rather than the UR versions. I guess I need to know if the i3 would be powerful enough to run the typical activities I mentioned in the first post. I am not sure what your last two sentences are implying (are these models too cheap)?

Thanks,

Actually power is rarely the issue.

One of our portables has a lowly Celeron dual core and works fine. It just takes a little longer.

The prices I googled were more than we pay for run of the mill laptops. That's what I meant.

Answer
Considering the software you described

I wouldn't go with an i3 at all. At least an i5 for all that graphics stuff, and maybe a discreet graphics card too.
