If I'm wired directly to the Westell modem/router(provided by Verizon), once I turn on the Westell modem/router, I am connected. No passwords needed.
I use a Netgear router. I have the Netgear router remember my WEP passkey so I never need to use a password to log on.
For Verizon, they provide the Self install kit. It comes with filters, modem/router, ethernet/usb cables and a CD.
No log in is needed except when you need to log in to get your emails.

When I lived in CT. I had SBC DSL. Every time I turned on the computer and wanted to get on the Internet I had to sign-in to their network. I would then be logged in but if I turned the computer off I had to do it all again the next time. When I moved the last time, about 4 years ago I went with cable to keep from having to sign-in every time. I get more speed and I don?t sign anymore. I called a Verison rep today and he said that was not the case anymore and that you were always on. This is a connection that uses an analog phone line and requires filters to keep the DSL signal clean and that a verison rep a year ago told me I could even use my old SBC modem and that I would still need to sign-in. My question is, can you get ADSL connection from Verison (from anybody for that matter)that works over an analog phone line that is always ?ON?(I don't sign-in every time)? Has the technology changed?
