ADSL on one computer is very slow, on other normal

Apr 1, 2007 5:40PM PDT

Hello,
I have a small 3 computer LAN that share one ADSL internet connection. On 2 computers the connection is good just on one its very slow. I use a switch to divide the connection between the computers. I have ZoneAlarm Personal on all computers running. The configuration is on all computers is pretty the same. What could be the reason for this behavior?

Regards,
Mirza

1. That machine is a slow machine.

Such as some Celeron with 128MB RAM (you never told.)

2. Your machines don't use antivirus or antispyware. Again something that was not shared.

3. "I use a switch to divide the connection between the computers." That's not proper. A router with switch would be proper. While one could get more IP addresses many wouldn't due to the increased cost.

Sorry but it could be proper for this machine but the details are missing.

Try at least what matters.

We have the forum note but we think some browsers don't show it so I'll copy it inline so you won't miss it this time.

Note: If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.

You might have rebuked me on some points as I could have guessed wrong about the switch or antispyware tools but you didn't do that or offer any new information. I have nothing new to add to what it could be.
