ADSL client setup problem

May 13, 2004 6:15PM PDT

G'day. Setup an ADSL modem on a Win 98 PC as host & access to all web sites without problem. However, when using a client with the same OS to access the net, some web sites displayed OK while some totally blank with error message. Thank you.

Regards,
Sim.

Details please.
May 13, 2004 7:25PM PDT

- What is the connection between the client and the host?
- What is the error message?
- Examples of a page that works, and a page that doesn't work?
- What happens if you view such a page directly on the client (connect a modem and dial in, or connect to the ADSL modem directly with USB or NIC).
- Popup- or ad-blocker installed on the client?
- Hosts-file different?
- Problem limited to IE or also on Mozilla?

Hope this helps.

Thanks Kees.
Client & host connection is Ethernet via a switch.
Error message is "The page cannot be displayed".
www.google.com works OK, http://reviews.cnet.com cannot be displayed.
If view from the client directly via a dial-up modem it's no problem.
No pop-up ad-blocker installed.
Host & client are with the same version of IE 5.5.
I use only IE.
Thank you.
