If using Firefox...
Jul 30, 2006 7:26AM PDT

I know Lee and the engineers have struggled with the wrapping of URLs for some time, evidently not finding a workable solution. However, if you're using Firefox, the extension MR Tech Link Wrapper does wonders. Unfortunately I don't know of any such solution for Internet Explorer.

Tech Link Wrapper
Aug 1, 2006 9:09AM PDT

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm using Firefox 1.5.5.

I installed the software, but it doesn't seem to have any

effect. It seems that it doesn't work on some systems.

Just have to suffer until it's fixed.

Thanks again.

Check the settings...
Aug 1, 2006 12:06PM PDT

Before ruling it DOA, double-check the settings. Go Tools->Extensions to make sure it is installed and enabled, then select it and click Options. On the General tab it should be enabled, Character Settings should have a default length of 15, and the Character Limit should be either 30,000 or disabled. Occasionally it may miss a lengthy URL, but for the most part it should autocorrect within a second of the page loading.

P.S. Hopefully that forum issue will be corrected in September. Hopefully.

Extensions
Aug 1, 2006 1:27PM PDT

You are correct. The extension will not install.
I've tried numerous times, with no luck.
While at their site, I also attempted to install other extensions, with not luck.
Firefox settings are checked to install extensions and themes. I have also turned off ZA to see if it may be blocking the install, but not help there.
When I click the "Install Now" link, the monitor screen flickers, then nothing.
I'll check their site for clues to a solution, but I'm not optimistic at this point.

Check About:config...
Aug 1, 2006 2:42PM PDT

The usual fix to that issue is to type about:config into Firefox's address bar and press enter. On the next screen type xpinstall.enabled into the Filter bar...the entry should be the only one found and should have the default value of true. If it is set to false, double-click the entry to change it back to true. With a little luck that will be all that's needed.

Hope this helps,
John

Very Nice Call

The value was set to false. Now I can download all the extensions that I want.

Thanks for your great advice.

Firefox settings
Aug 1, 2006 2:46PM PDT

Maybe I should have posted this in the Browsers Forum.
Firefox is blocking the downloading of Firefox extensions from their website. I have edited all the settings in Firefox to allow the download, but nothing that I have done seems to make a difference.

Yeah, the wrap is a little annoying since '03.....
