What I would do.
Oct 24, 2011 10:03PM PDT

Additional to Kees' suggestions.

I would uninstall all Adobe products, then reboot the computer. This should update the registry and system files. Then try installing the reader again. See if that helps.

Great game by Norwich on Saturday, a draw at Liverpool.

Of course as I've said before me being an Ipswich Town supporter we are enemies. But since you're in the Premier league and we are not, then us East Anglians must stick together. Happy

Next steps
Oct 25, 2011 5:50AM PDT

If Kees' suggestion doesn't work I would head over to Adobe's web site and get their "Uninstaller". Have a look at the link below and try the steps there to uninstall the Adobe PDF Reader permanently;

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/400/kb400769.html

I would again reboot the computer after that, and before reinstalling.

If that fails, look up "Revo Uninstaller" and try that.

Good luck.

Walk-through
Oct 26, 2011 8:12AM PDT

Hi NC.

Here's a walk-through for you; http://www.guidingtech.com/457/revo-uninstaller/

You're right to be cautious and I was going to suggest creating a System Restore point before using Revo, but I see that the utility does this for you. I would use the Advanced Uninstall Mode when you are asked to select, so it removes all traces of Adobe from the system, including registry entries.

Just be sure that you select the right software to uninstall. Thankfully, it doesn't offer you the option of uninstalling Windows! Happy

Hi again

I used Ad Uni mode got to the end it said. Got to find leftover registry items,it ask please be carefully verify the bolded itemsand their subitems will be deleted. And at the bottom it says found registry items 15.

When it first opened it showed just one item in bold thats where I chicken out as I was not sure. Because you said it would remove items from the registy without me having too.

I did tell you I was useless. Anyway I now have to get ready to go to the match, hope to here from you soon.

Thanks again norwich city

Blimey, last gasp Norwich!

A good draw, but 3-1 down and near the final whistle? Happy

Have a look at the registry entries that Revo says it will delete. If they are all to do with Adobe, then it is safe to allow Revo to delete them.

I would trust Revo with this. It is an often recommended utility in these forums.

Re: adobe reader

The easy workaround: download and use another reader. Both foxitsoftware.com and nitroreader.com have free ones.

Does it give the same error in a new Windows account.
If not, delete the Adobe reader things in your Appdata and such.

Adobe reader problem

Hi We were a little lucky yesterday to get a draw but it makes up for some games i/e Manchester/Chelsea when we could have got something.

Thanks for putting up with me with this problem of the Adobe. I have downloaded foxitsoftware which seem to work so thank you again.

Just one thing I dont seem to remove from the control panel is Adobe flash player.

Well, I think
Oct 29, 2011 10:47PM PDT

that is what Kees suggested right at the beginning, Foxit PDF, Devil

I use it myself and is a great alternative.

I'm fairly sure Revo would have removed that Control Panel entry for Adobe. Bt Flash Player is a different thing to Adobe's PDF Reader. It should be listed in Add/Remove Programs as a separate item.

Back to Revo I think.

It's strange that all Adobe products are causing problems. It would be nice to remove all traces from your system then start again, but beware, the Flash player is a plugin for your browser that you may need for watching videos online, eg YouTube and others, so uninstalling it, whichever method is used, and you may not be able to watch videos until that is reinstalled.
