Adobe Reader 6.0 or & 7.0

Jun 5, 2005 4:16AM PDT

I have a Dell Dimension 4550, 512MB RAM, 60 GB Hard Drive, 17 GB free, XP home and run Adobe Reader 5.1. Unfortunately some of the sites that require .pdf file downloads require a newwer version than Adobe Reader 5.1.

I have downloaded and installed Adobe Reader 7.0. The installation completed successfully, I have done this several times. When I attempt to launch the Adobe Reader 7.0 it does not open, doulble click the icon the mouse blinks to an hour glass then returns back to the arrow. I have also attempted this going to the Adobe 7.0 folder and opening the application file with the same result.

Abobe's forums offered essentially no help. The solution they offered was a radically reconfiguration that disable almost every program on the computer from running. And still did not launch the 7.0 reader
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Finding the old A*.TMP files and deleting them. After about 64,000 temp files, Acrobat (and Reader) fail.

They use Explorer or Find Files and never find the acrobat temp files.

The symptoms you presented are indicative of this issue.
