Question

Adobe Reader

Oct 17, 2012 5:20PM PDT

I have problem in running the Adobe Reader XI even though I have re-installed the software a few times.

When I run the Adobe Reader XI, a dialog box appears and read as follows:

Adobe Reader: AcroRd32.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x8c87be44" referenced memory at "0x8c87be44". The memory could not be "written".

Click OK to terminate the program
Click CANCEL to debug the program

OK Cancel

Can someone tell me what happened to this computer and how to resolve the problem so that I can use Adobe Reader to read PDF files?

While installing Foxit

While installing the Foxit reader, it asked for association with Firefox .... Chrome. Then the similar error message appeared twice, once for Firefox and the other for Temp.

Anyway, the Foxit reader can now read the pdf files.

Old tmp files

There are no acr***.tmp files in the Temp folder. In any case, I deleted all tmp files. Problem with Acrobe Reader XI persists. I go back to Adobe Reader 9.5 and it works again!

As you can imagine there is little support for the free reader.
