Adobe plugins

Hi there, when I open a pdf file my computer automatically selects acrobat professional 6 and during the opening sequence a message appears "there was an error while loading the "ImageConversion.api" two plugins are attempting to register with the same name. I thought this may be caused due to an earlier issue I was trying to overcome with writing pdf files, when I think I set acrobat 6 as the default pdf programme, but now I can't find where to change that setting.
