Adobe folder always opens

May 22, 2005 4:33AM PDT

Everytime I boot up my compute the C:\Program Files\Adobe folder automatically opens up. I try running Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Pro and the first message I get is "You need to reboot your system before you can do another update". When I boot again the same folder opens and the circle of life begins again.

How do I kill it? Silly

...any ideas?
May 23, 2005 10:30AM PDT

Does anyone have any ideas? It's really annoying because it's lagging my computer down when it starts.

Not to self: don't update adobe acrobat Silly

..all attempts still fail
Jun 2, 2005 4:47AM PDT

I went into Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and removed the 6.0.3 update. I was thinking that if it actually HAD an update it would finally recognize that I restarted my machine.

No such luck.

So I just uninstalled 6.0.2 and, finally, Adobe Acrobat 6.0.1 Professional entirely.

Now that 6.0.0.5 is intalled...which confused me - it STILL is asking me to restart and STILL opens the friggin C:\Program Files\Adobe folder on startup. It even did that when I Acrobat 6.0 was completely uninstalled. So, there are 2 separate problems. One I can live with, which is acrobat not recognizing system reboots and therefore I can't update. Whatever it works.

I recently attempted installing Adobe Illustrator 7.0 on my computer but the serial number was incorrect so I must have written it down wrong. What can I do to stop that folder from re-opening?

Did you read the link I provided?
Jun 2, 2005 9:48AM PDT

Maybe not. But consider this. Any entry with ADOBE is suspect if you don't have ADOBE installed. The entry could fail and a folder open.

Got it?

link?
Jun 2, 2005 10:04AM PDT

I went back and I didn't see a link...

*confused* Anyways - I looked over it and the only think I don't recognize is the "Gamma Loader". ihave Photoshop and Acrobat installed and I use them all the time. I tried instilling illustrator and the serial failed. there was an empty illustrator folder in the folder that opened so i just deleted it. i never finished installing the program. i didn't see any illustrator phantoms in the log though.
