Adobe Flash Won't Play

Jun 23, 2010 12:20PM PDT

Yesterday I received this error message when trying to play an Adobe Flash (BBC news) movie:
?Cannot play media. You do not have the correct version of the flash player. Download the correct version?.

So I downloaded the new version. As directed, I first used the Adobe Flash remover program to remove the previous version. Then I downloaded the new Flash version. The loading seemed to go okay, including a reboot. This was in Firefox 3.6.4.

This morning I got the same Flash error message (above). Worse, I cannot find the Adobe Flash player file on my computer. It isn?t in the ?Adobe? directory under Program Files and it doesn?t appear with file searches for ?adobe? and ?flash?.

So I downloaded Flash again, this time using Internet Explorer. Again the download went okay. But I am still getting that error message.

Where on my computer would the Flash player be and why won?t mine play files on the internet? Thanks.

Update - Flash Now Plays
Jun 23, 2010 12:51PM PDT

It took a 10 minutes after I posted my first post for Flash to start working - first in Internet Explorer and a few minutes later, in Firefox.

Strange that it took so long for these to start loading flash content. Thanks anyway, and the Moderator could delete this thread if s/he wants.

I get this often, especially in Firefox.

Either I am listening to live radio, or watching a video, and in Firefox it fails to load or if it is already playing it ceases.

If I switch to IE straight away it often works.

I suspect this is a BBC web site problem, and not us.
