Adobe Flash Problems

Jan 2, 2011 1:57AM PST

I'm not sure I'm in the right place, but at least it is a start.

A few weeks ago, I got a notice on my Tracker that my Flash needed updated. At about the same time I received an update from Adobe. I installed the update and it has been a disaster ever since. When using any program needing Flash, it is slow, crashes (especially on Chrome) like it is eating up every bit of CPU and memory on my laptop. I have been in touch with suppliers and tried to get help from Adobe.. lost cause.

Is anyone else having this problem? I have done the following:
1. Uninstalled and re-installed Flash.
2. Restored my system and driver.
3. Set my setting to the programs
4. Cussed and cried even more.

I am using:
Vista Home Premium Svc Pack 2 on an Acer Aspire 5536
AMD X2 Dual-Core
RAM 3 GB
32-bit OS
Should you need any further info please advise.

If someone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I know from talking to others that I am not the only one having problems with the new release, but I do not know how to proceed.

Thanks,
Patrick

So far, all good here.

While I have another OS and machine, all this works here. I'm beginning to think that the new apps on the old OS and machines is going to be trouble that no one can help with.

Let's hear more about that crash.

Adobe New Download
Jan 3, 2011 7:02PM PST

I spoke with a tech yesterday. He told me that indeed there was a problem with the new release and that on Saturday, there was another to repair the original. He suggested I uninstall and then install the new one. I did, and IE is now working fine. Of course Chrome isn't, but I assume they will catch up eventually.

The crash was just that. I would be working along, playing a game, whatever, and all of a sudden everything would stop and then the magic widow would pop up and tell me it was looking for a solution and had closed. On Chrome it would tell me it was because of Flash. I looked at the details, but have no idea what error mean. On day, they will write that stuff in English.. I'd settle for German. I can translate that.

It will be interesting to see if this fix holds. I do not know why it hasn't been updated in Chrome. I can't do anything with it because Flash is built in, but Flash is not working on Chrome.

http://forums.cnet.com/7723-6142_102-511127.html covers a long path about how today's apps are eating more. While the move to 64 bit OS and 4GB machines helps the apps, the owners are suffering if they move to the new big apps.

Let's hear more about that crash. Error messages in particular.

Clear as Mud

I went to the link you sent, and I am an idiot I know, but I didn't understand 1/4 of what was being discussed. I check my WTM and it will show my cpu at 100% and memory at 46.

I don't think I told you of my programs. I am using, all C-Net recommendations at that, AVG Security Suite, Registry Booster, and System Mechanic with all the automatics disabled.

So far as extensions or apps. I don't think I have very many that run constantly. Again, when I look at the list of processes running, I can't tell what in the world they are.

If I read the other forum correctly, it is not good to recover memory. That is basically what I use SM for, but it is a temp fix.

I checked on the forums for Chrome and there are a ton of people having trouble with Flash. Made me feel a little better. I like Chrome because of its speed, but when it doesn't work, there isn't any way to fix it.

There may be hope.

I think the Cnet Computer Help forum would be best since Grif and others will tell you tales about Registry Boost, System Mechanic but the new AVG ID Security module can cause many machines to run at 100% CPU. I'd read the Cnet AVG Forum about that and consider ejecting or disabling that.

My thought about "Flash is not working on Chrome" is simple. Don't do that. Use Firefox or what works until they fix it.
