Adobe Acrobat won't start

Nov 24, 2003 2:18AM PST

New Dell machine with Win2k. Adobe Acrobat installed at factory. When the user loggs on, Adobe won't run.

In the final analysis, the temp file ACR*.* were some thousands. Deleteing them allowed Acrobat to run.

I have not covered any permissions issues on purpose.

I do have one question. Why isn't Dell fixing this?

"I do have one question. Why isn't Dell fixing this?"

I guess that I have gotten so use to fixing my own problems, I forgot about using the already-paid-for tech support.

Thanks for your help Bob

Did the solution work for you?

Or was it a permission thing?

I am not too sure ...

Now when I start it, it wants to install the MS Journal. After I hit cancel about 7 times, the Adobe starts.

It is really funny because when I log on as the administrator, everything works like it is supposed to.

I think I am going to call Dell. I paid for the support.

The solution seems to have worked. You have a new issue...

You appear to have solved Acrobat just not starting to what you describe now.

The MS Journal could be Acrobat 6 new feature kicking in with Office.

"Collaborative features are more powerful in Acrobat 6. It has
publishing-friendly features such as support for colour separation and
previews. You can send PDFs for review by e-mail and the response will
come back in FDF. Form Data Format (FDF) lets you save data filled
into an Acrobat form. The journal feature keeps track of when a PDF
was sent for review. Last but not least, you can export comments to
Word XP and round-trip documents from Word to Acrobat 6 and back
again."

Seems another thing to hunt down and disable.
