Adobe Acrobat Printing Problem

Jan 28, 2005 12:00AM PST

I am using a Compaq presario 5400us computer with XP operating system. Recently I tryed to print some documents using Adobe Acrobat ver. 4. When the document printed the shapes of the forms were ok but the characters (letters) were almost like a foreign language (unreadable). I checked settings and it showed English as the language. Up until a few weeks ago this version worked fine. So I uninstalled this version and installed version 7. The results are the same. When I look at the document within Adobe it appears in English, but when it prints it has changed somehow. Any Ideas?

Did you hunt down and delete the old ACR*.TMP files?

ACR*.TMP files

What are ACR*.TMP files? I know that they are temp files but what does the ACR* stand for (Acrobat reader?) I usually delete files with System Wiper ver 2.4... I just looked at it and it look's like it is only deleting IE files. I'll look for them.

I checked for the temp files and found none.

Two more ideas.

1. System Restore to when it worked.

2. Supply an URL of a PDF that does this.

1. System Restore to when it worked. That's an Idea though I installed a new Hard drive in the mean time and copied all the files over to the new one (with Norton Ghost) It's probably been a couple of months since I could tell it worked properly.
2. Supply an URL of a PDF that does this. I'm sure it can't be duplicated on another machine as I fired up my old windows 95 machine that was running ver 4 and was able to print it correctly.
