Adobe

Apr 21, 2004 8:10AM PDT

I had Adobe and Adobe 5 listed in my Add/Remove programs and I removed Adobe (for some reason), at the same time removing some shared files.(I don't remember what they were.) Now my Paperport program for the scanner says Paperport caused an error in mfc.dll. I thought it had something to do with the Adobe removal, so I thought I should get Adobe again. But I thought I should remove Adobe 5 first before starting fresh. Then I went to the Adobe website and tried to download Adobe Reader 6. When I try to open or save I get the message OLEPRO32.dll not found. Help please.
I am running windows ME.

Trogs,

Have you done a search on your computer for the OLEPRO32.dll file? Is it there at all?

Which version of Internet Explorer do you have installed? The OLEPRO32.dll file is installed with Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office and a few other programs, and it appears like you're may be outdated, or possibly removed. I would try installing the current version of Internet Explorer 6 SP1 which may be newer than the version you have installed.

If you don't have that version of Internet Explorer installed, here's a link to get that done.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/download.asp

If you'd like to attempt an install of Adobe Acrobat Reader 5, here's a link where that version can be installed:

Hope this helps.

Hi Grif
When I did a search I couldn't find the file. I have had Internet Explorer 6 for some time. I just tried downloading it again but apparently it didn't give me the necessary file. Then I found the file on a CD I have (Windows ME update). I copied it into 3 places on the C drive. But Adobe still says "OLEPRO32.dll not found." Do you know where I should put it?

Trgs,

Although I'm not near a WinME computer, on both Win98 and Win95, it belongs in the "C\Windows\System" folder. (If that doesn't get it done, try the "C\Windows\System32" folder.)

Hope this helps.

First, you may want to try searching for the dll files that are missing in your Start menu Search. You can reload these files by knowing the location of them on your PC. Or try www.snapfiles.com/help/missingfiles.html
to find and download any missing files.

I copied the missing file into C:\windows\system, and then after some difficulties I was able to download Adobe again. It seems to be working alright and also my Paperport program seems to be working again. I will be looking into the missing files website. Many thanks, Grif and revans61.
