ADMSL modem autoamtically changes password

May 18, 2007 4:31PM PDT

Hello,
please take a look here:

http://halfprice.habra.com/Mirza/Bugs/modem.jpg

every morning my modem is changing the adsl password to my old password and username that is not functioning. I have added a new username/password pair but the old one is still there. I don't know how to get rid of it.

Regards,
Mirza

How do you know it changed the password?

Many write that because when you enter the password of say 8 characters the next time you look, there are 15 stars.

This is NOT an indication of a change but a security measure common to most (well done) password boxes. You don't want to reveal the password is 8 characters long so you put up 15 stars or some other than the real length.

Hope this explains this common misconception.

You need to disable any remote management on most routers today. If one enables management from the WAN port or wifi then you may be "hacked."

If you could supply a link to the manual for your router I might look to see which page they tell how to configure that.

Good luck with your issue but since this is all volunteer efforts I ask you do the work of finding the manual for me.
