How can I recover my administrator user? I use win.xp pro. on a Dell laptop.I used to have:
User:Administrator
Password:xxxx
For no good reason I don't have them anymore.I created a different user name with the same password and I was able to recover everything and get acces to all my program and files. If I want to creat a new account and name the user administrator,is telling me that this user already exist.I installed a program and can't fully use it because I have no administrator rights.
Thank you for your help.

In Windows XP, Administrator is an account created by default, mostly as a 'fall back' account in case you have problems. You are then prompted to create and use a different account, leaving Administrator alone until you need it. When you do create a new account Administrator becomes hidden...it's not displayed on the Welcome screen or in User Accounts. However, it's still there and very much usable. To access it you have multiple options:

1.) On the Welcome Screen press ctrl + alt + delete twice and then type in Administrator and the password (if there is one).

2.) Press F8 during boot to enter Safe Mode. In Safe Mode all administrative accounts, and only administrative accounts, will be listed.

3.) Click here to download Microsoft's Tweak UI. With it open, select logon and place a checkmark next to Administrator...that will force it to be listed on the Welcome Screen.

Hope this helps,
John

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
