Question

adding video to a large music files collection

Nov 6, 2011 1:50PM PST

So, with this nice, big 50" plasma tv of mine, the idea of watching some kind of video whilst playing back the 1,000 or so flac, mp3, wav, wma files I have on my attached-to-my-receiver little Western Digital media player box sounds like a cool added experience...Now I'm sure someone somewhere as wondered if this is possible, let alone pratical...I know there is software out there to add music to video or vice versa....but, finding an actual performance video of the song could be daunting, especially for tunes off a CD that weren't released as singles. Then , if you DO happen to find a video performance of the song, it's already going to have audio, but, the question is, is it as high quality audio as an audio only file? I don't think it is...At least the audio I hear off youtube....

So, even though it's most likely impractical to expect to find a video performance of the audio file (either a 'staged' , lip-synced performance, or actual concert footage) of EVERY single audio file in my collection, the possibility of taking liberties and just making up video of anything to go with the audio file is also intriguing..you could still just splice together still pictures of the artists or even use totally unrelated footage of the artist....So, the question becomes where to find the video?....Youtube seems to be the best option to snag the video portion, then it would be a matter of marrying to your existing audio files.....

Has anyone tried this or something similar?
