Resolved Question

adding ssdrive to a pc using a large traditional drive

Apr 11, 2014 8:57PM PDT

I have a PC using
Intel i3-3220 cpu,RAM 16GB,m/b Model name H61M-USB3v and a system type 64-bit. At the moment I have a conventional large size hard drive. The M/B has two places to connect to SATA cables.
4SATA 3Gb/s.
I would like to add a Solid State drive, just big enough for the operating system on solid state, to speed up the start up etc.
Is it possible and advisable ?
if so, any pit falls to watch out for!

I am grateful to you for the response. However only one question remains unanswered.
Would it work with a M/B H61M, which has a lower speed ( SATA 3Gb/s) in stead of the faster 6Gb/s ?

Yes

Yes it will work fine...I have the sata 3Gb ports.

I suppose there is some minor perf loss using 3Gb vs 6Gb but I'm not going to fret about it.

3GB interfaces, it's faster, it doesn't cost any more and you can use it in another system in the future.

Let us know how it works out.
