That's entirely something welcome if you care to maintain an old XP system. YES, adding the ram max. amount of 2GB is going to improve operations, but don't expect a miracle here. It will be just better overall and probably noticeable even. However, this is an old system and if its worth it to you and plan to keep for some time, go ahead and be happy. Otherwise, again you have an old system adding some extra life of usage. Crucial is a trusted source of info for ram upgrades and usually is good to go. If you don't buy from them then get the *EXACT same* ram elsewhere. good luck

Hello
I have just completed a 'Scan your system for possible upgrades' on an old XP desktop using the scanning robot at crucial.com. I would like to add RAM and these are the results I get:
ASUS A7V400-MX
Max memory: 2048Mb
Slots: 2 (2 banks of 1)
At the moment, I have only a 512Mb RAM card installed (I only use this computer to store files from my main Win 7 PC). So I take it that I would need to get rid of that 512Mb RAM card and install 2 x 1Gb RAM cards (DDR PC2700 Unbuffered NON-ECC 2.5V 128Meg x 64).
Before I buy it, I just wanted to know if my motherboard would allow me to see the benefits of this added RAM. Sometimes I read that such and such a device is wonderful, but the motherboard would not support it.
Thanks for any advice.
