This pc has 256 MB/DDR SDRAM, if I add another stick of the same type, will that give me 512 MB?

I went from 128 MB to 1152Mb. You would think my system would fly with all this memory. I notice no difference at all. Makes me wonder why I spent all that money to upgrade! It cost me $600.00 to add this memory to my Gateway computer.
Gee, $600 Patty. Who gave you that advice to spend that much and increase to over 512MB of RAM.
Unless you are a developer, and doing high end graphics, or video editing, increasing over 512MB will not give you much improvement, and usually none that you can tell. Even the high tech games of today do not require much over 384MB of RAM (Doom 3). High end competitive gamers like to use more than 512MB of RAM trying to squeeze every oz of frame rate for competition, but I have most all the latest high tech games, and they work beautiful and efficient with 512MB of RAM and a good Graphics Video Card.
