Adding Internal Memory

Sep 3, 2006 12:23AM PDT

I have a Dell Dimension 4400, running Win XP Home and need to add more RAM. I have 2 slots and each has a 128MB memory chip. I would like to purchase a 512MB chip to replace one of the 128MB chips. The owners manual calls for PC2100, DDR nonECC memory. The difference in price from the Dell cost and what I can buy from Kingston and others is allmost half! Will DDR nonECC memory from another manufacturer work in my computer? Sorry about the long letter and thanks for your help.

Are you saying that all or most DDR nonECC RAM is not compatible with each other? All things being equal. Iknow there are many manufacturers of memory beside the two noted. Thanks again for your answer.

But configurators at said sites help you get the right stuff.
