YES, you can install the old HD in the new system. Provided the new system has XP OS, it should see the new HD. Make sure the HD is setup via its jumpers as CS/cable select and placed on the HD cable on the inner or middle connection. Most newer HDs have that jumper option or look for label/decal showing jumpering. Otherwise, you have to use the master/slave setup. If this seems to much, visit the old HD makers for info on such. If for some reason, it appears you can't physically install old HD, it can be connected BUT left outside the case on 'safe, non-conductive' surface(old HD bag or cardboard) and not allowed movement.
I bought a new hp Pav a 1630n and would like to add my hardrive from my old computer. Can it be added so I can access the info on it or do I have to clear the info and then add it? The problem is I have info on that computer that I want on my computer but it won't let me save anything to cd and transfer. Any info wuld be great. If more info is needed let me know and I will get it. The old system is an hp with ME operating system and celojunk I me Celeron operating system.
