Adding background music to WMP file

Mar 21, 2010 2:41AM PDT

My friend is trying to add music to the background of a video in windows media format for a wedding. When prompted "if you would like to add music" regardless of type of file that is attempted to be used it responds that it is missing necessary codecs to do so. Is there a certain codec or music file type needed for WMP or does the video file need to be exported to another program where music can be added in? Now that itunes files (well the higher priced ones) are drm-less can they still not be used? I havent gotten a chance to look at it yet he has just asked me about this, so I thought I would get input here before I tried to see if I could figure it out for him after work. Thanks for any info.

Windows media player so he says

He says it was windows media player itself. He told me "it opened all the pictures on the left and you moved them into the boxes on the right and then selected types of transfers fades to next pic etc... and at the end it asked you if you wanted to add background music and when he tried to add a song file from itunes that he had purchased it said you do not have the required codecs. he said he also tried something from a CD." Sorry this is all second hand information as I have yet to look at it which I'm going to this evening. Thought I'd get a little foreknowledge before I went over there. I was not aware that Windows media player had all these capabilities, but then again I dont normally use it so I'm not that good a judge.
