I wire it to the existing router on a LAN port. I rarely need to change the WAP's IP but you could if you so desired.
As to the WAP client IPs those are handled via the existing router which places all the clients on the same LAN.
There are few security options on WAPs. I set the SSID (WiFi name of the WAP) add a password to the WPA2 security and I am done.
Hi - am tying to add a WAP to my existing wifi network to reach weak signal areas . Need to configure the WAP to be able to link into the network but unsure what settings need to be changed. The documentation from Netgear relating to the WAP (wac 120) isnt very helpful nor was asking TalkTalk who supply my existing router / hub (new sagemcom) unless you know networking which I dont.
Basically need to know if I need to change the IP and security settings on the WAP to tie in with the existing router as just using the default setting doesnt seem to work.
