Adding a TV tuner

Mar 6, 2006 6:45PM PST

I want to add a TV tuner card to my PC. I am using XP Pro. The main graphics adapter is an AGP e-GeForce 5200FX. I have an old PCI All-In-Wonder card. Can I install the All-in-wonder card to use for tv and video recording(PVR) while the 5200 handles all the other video requirements?

When I did this on the old PC (Win98 SE) the PCI card took precedent over the AGP card. The setup was mainly for dual monitors.

I want to keep using the 5200 but want to add the ability to watch TV, transfer VHS to DVD and record tv(PVR)

Any suggestions?

video capture cards

They will work seperately from your graphics card. Most places, both retail and on the net have them. Probably the best are here http://www.hauppauge.com/

However, I would probably look to get a specific TV tuner card unless you were looking to also be able to do dual monitor. That way, there's no possibility of confusion over which video card is supposed to be doing what, driver conflicts, that sort of thing.

all in wonder cards are first of all video cards , not only tv tuner and capture, like others, i sugest that if you want to use fx5200 most of the time but want to watch tv and capture vhs u should get another capture system. a simple tv tuner or may be an external like ati tv wonder usb. There must be some way to setup with both of your cards but its seems to need a lot of trying.

good luck
