If I install my usual PCI Parallel Port card I also install the driver and then dive into the settings to map it to the old LPT1 addresses.
-Again, no. There is no such card made that will do this. We get to ... do the above for it to work.
Just purchased a new Dell Dimension which only has provision for a USB connection for the printer. This works fine on all windows programs, but I also have a DOS based propriatary accounting program which will only recognise the printer if it is on a parallel port. Can I add a parallel port card and will WIN XP Media Edition pick it up automatically and present it to the DOS program as a normal LPT1 connection? Thanks
