adding a dvr to my home theater setup

by ginerjm / October 22, 2007 7:22 AM PDT

Hoepfully I'm close but just missing something.

I already have a sony receiver, cd player, dvd player and an hd tv and a directv hd box all connected and working just fine. Everything is hooked into the received and works great.

I went out and bought a Sony 455 DVR and attempted to connect it by doing the following:

unplug the OLD dvd player and connect teh NEW DVR box to the existing
cables. NOw the old dvd player had a component cable (red/green/blue) and another single cable (coax) which fit right into the new DVR unit.

I switched my receiver to DVD mode and managed to play an old dvd with my new dvr and it worked just fine. Then I switched my receiver back to the Video 2 mode (my satellite source) and put on a program and attempted to record that show for a couple of minutes. I stopped my recording session, switched the receiver back to dvd mode and played the dvd. NOthing showed up.

Any ideas on what I hooked up incorrectly

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
