( That PICTURE LINK above is a picture and diagram of my current network )
Okay, as you can in the picture above, there are 3 computers that should be on a network.
The cable modem and Linksys router (model# befw11s4) are hooked up to the iMac.
The Compaq has a wireless adapter and is able to pick up the signal with the router.
The Dell in my bedroom is hooked up to a Linksys adapter and is NO LONGER able to connect to the router.
As you can see in the picture, the Dell computer is in my bedroom, and my parents don't know about it. I use the iMac in the living room and my parents' Compaq is situated close to the iMac in the living room, which is not the best for me since I am under their nose a lot. So my boyfriend gave me his old Dell for my bedroom, and it has been hidden in my bedroom for the past year, and I have been using it on the internet during the past year on the wireless network, UNTIL LAST WEEK.
Last week, my dad was reading Consumer Reports magazine about how people in the neighborhood and people driving by our house in a car can look for wireless signals, so my dad went into the settings of the wireless-network and made it so only his computer, the Compaq, can be on the wireless network. The second he did that, I lost internet access to my bedroom.
My question is, how can I restore internet access to my bedroom ? I turned on his Compaq, and I opened Internet-Explorer and went to the url of http://192.168.1.1/ ; and tried to get in by typing ADMIN as the password, but I cannot get in and change the wireless settings. Anyone have any pointers on how I can gain access to the wireless settings and change them, so I can get the internet back on in my bedroom ???
