for yellow question marks? By any chance does it refer to a printer? Any driver's updated lately?...especially from the MS Windows update site? If it's your printer, generally uninstalling it and reinstalling it the next time the wizard show up takes care of this. Yellow question marks are another thing. It can be such as a firewire port on an add-in card you didn't know was there or a secondary video port. If it's a yellow question mark and you're sure nothing new has been added, you can just disable the device to make the wizard give up.
During windows startup my computer is telling me I have new hardware, but I don't. Even if I tell it to look for the appropriate software, of course there is nothing to find because I haven't added any. I even tried to run the Add hardware from the control panel to see what XP is seeing, but it doesn't know either.
Any thoughts on how to get this to go away? I comes on every time I start the computer. I've even disconned all non-essential and network devices and still get this warning.
Seem like my XP machines performance ever since I started getting weird security patches in Feb '08.
