I should perhaps add that my internet conn. works as it should + an ftp-app. like FileZilla works like a charm too. So it is only My Network-folder and its wizard that behaves.
Not too savvy on XP (SP3) so bear with me: Just a few days ago I set up the network places I regularly need to ftp in Network/Add Network Place. Everything was fine and hunky dory: I had access and could view the remote content etc.
Now, overnight, 1) All shortcuts have switched to the typical 'unknown'-icon; 2) the "Computer" column labels each network place "unknown" and they don't respond when clicked; further 3) the "Add Network Place" wizard does not work - it claims perfectly valid ftp-addresses entered are invalid, and never lets me beyond the first step.
I've run malware scans to no avail. What might have happened? And how can I restore functionality to the Network explorer and the "Add Network Place"-wizard?
