Question

Add Adobe Flash to IE 8

Aug 10, 2013 6:00AM PDT

My husband's HP laptop had problems with IE8 and the Conduit Search virus thing. So I clean that off and reset IE. All the add-ons are disabled. I think this all started because he was having trouble with Adobe Flash wouldn't work and videos wouldn't play.

So I d/l and installed Adobe Flash but how to I make IE use it? Videos say you need Adobe Flash to play this video. I don't see it listed in Manage Add-ons.

Oh, he has VISTA.

I wonder if Adobe dropped Flash for ie 8?

The security pundits have been hammering on Adobe for a long time so if you can't secure it for ie 8 I wonder if they just dropped it?

Answer
For this one I usually head to abobe.com

But the same site should have redirected but as you know, that is a growing concern as there are fake Flash add ons. So here's the adobe site with full download to fetch and install.

-> http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

Select the OS then the one for IE.

I searched around and found this posting
Hi VetteCouple, The first thing would be is to go to the Adobe test site here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about This will confirm if FP is installed and what version.

When I typed in the www address it came up and automatically installed flash. It didn't say I had one even though I had just d/l & installed it. So it's working now. I guess I got what I needed.
