Adblock - how do you unblock something?

Oct 9, 2005 9:04AM PDT

I blocked something and now images I want to see aren't appearing. They do appear if I disable Adblock. How do you unblock things?

The preferences window is blank

I had tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Adblock, then did the same with Firefox itself. I manually deleted folders and registry entries that were not removed during the uninstall process. Now my images are still blocked but the Preferences window has nothing in it.

Sorry, I only checked it with Mozilla.

Delete Profile
Oct 9, 2005 9:56AM PDT

If you're gonna delete firefox make sure you delete the profile because if you reinstall firefox your default profile will still be there that's probably causing your problem to delete your profile click start -> run -> firefox.exe -p delete the main profile and create a new one

I suggest you upgrade to Firefox 1.0.7 and download the adblock plus extension with the adblock filter.g updater

Also a reminder do not use Firefox 1.5 Beta 2 if you don't know your way around firefox the beta is suggested to be for experience users and developers but if you know your way around it then download it

I had tried that already...

....but I did it again just to be sure, and it did not resolve the issue. I am using Firefox 1.0.7.

Are you sure...

The list of images to be blocked by Adblock, as well as all other preferences and settings, are located in your user profile, so deleting it and reinstalling Firefox resets everything the way it was upon the first installation. Are you sure you closed and uninstalled Firefox, then deleted the Firefox installation folder (local drive:\program files\Firefox) and the profile directory (local drive:\documents and settings\username\application data\mozilla\firefox\profiles)? Try doing it again, in that order...there's no reason that shouldn't work. If, for some reason, they are still blocked you'll probably have to disable AdBlock whenever you visit the ite(s) that display those images.

Hope this helps,
John

Hope This Works

Well to me it seems more of an adblock extension problem I suggest you do what John says if that doesn't work uninstall adblock uninstall filter.g updater too now reinstall adblock or adblock plus delete the filters if any of em are there now go to that certain site which is blocking the images and hopefully it fixes the problem also here is a screenshot of how my preferences for adblock plus are setup http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/7831/adblockpreferences5pa.jpg

Fixed it

Obj-Tabs was checked in Adblock Preferences. I unchecked it and the problem was gone.

Thanks all for your suggestions.
